HALIFAX, Nova Scotia (March 16, 2025) - Atlantic Racing Team is proud to announce that it has re-signed its 2024 driver, Canadian James Lawley from Halifax, Nova Scotia, to pilot the No. 88 Ligier JS F3 in 2025. Lawley will compete in the FIA-certified Formula Regional Americas Championship (FR Americas) for all eight race weekends in the series running from March to October 2025.
Lawley has been with Atlantic Racing since 2023, initially competing in the first generation F4 car in 2023, and moving to FR Americas in 2024. He will continue with this series in 2025.
According to Ingo Strackerjan, Team Manager, “Lawley made tremendous progress in his first year of the 2024 FR Americas season and once we started, we all realized his so-far-untouched driving potential. James has improved even more now, after having participated in the Castrol Toyota Formula Regional Oceania Championship (CTFROC) series in New Zealand for five weeks in January/February 2025.”
Lawley states that his New Zealand experience was “challenging with tough competition in every turn. I needed to expand my driving techniques with the Toyota FR and advance my track knowledge. The final weekend at Highlands Motorsport Park—with an under and over configuration with high speeds in the turn going into and over the bridge—was wild. What a trip!”
After New Zealand, Lawley engaged in a busy test program. Running the FR Americas car at Buttonwillow (Calif.) Raceway Park until the start of the Formula Pro USA Western Championship series at Sonoma Raceway. Then, Lawley heads to Motorsport Ranch (MSR) Houston in Texas for more testing, before the FR Americas Championship begins at NOLA Motorsports Park in Louisiana at the end of the month.
