Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport Collects a Podium Sweep at Laguna Seca Invitational

May 7, 2024 – Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport saw some action at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca this past weekend in the Laguna Seca SpeedTour invitational. Although this wasn’t a sanctioned FR Americas race on the 2024 season schedule, the New Zealand-spirited team brought the heat on track, scoring a podium shutout in the only race of the weekend.

What originally was a double-header weekend turned into a one-race dash for the win, with the weather canceling the first race on Saturday. This left Jett Bowling on the pole for the race Sunday afternoon. Titus Sherlock took home race one pole but was unable to see it through due to the weather.

Off the start, it was a side-by-side battle between Sherlock and Bowling into turn one.  Sherlock hung on the outside all the way around and was able to shoot into the lead early before the field hit turn two. With focus forward, Sherlock continued to stay in front of his teammates to take home a well-deserved win. Later, Bowling had a quick spin after passing a backmarker and recovered quickly to finish third. Ryan Shehan capitalized on Bowling’s mistake and took over second position while setting his fastest lap on track, ahead of all his teammates’ speeds. Landan Matriano Lim embarked on an exciting battle, swapping positions lap after lap with former Super Vee and Formula 3 Champion Stuart Crow driving his Ralt Atlantic car, and finished ahead of the seasoned veteran. In the end, it was a 1-2-3-4 shutout, with Titus Sherlock taking the top step of the podium, followed by Ryan Shehan in second, Jett Bowling in third, and Landan Matriano Lim in fourth.

Barrett Wolfe raced in a class of his own during the weekend as the only F4 chassis driver on track, showcasing the brand new F4 chassis which ran faultlessly and showed great speed – considerably faster than it’s predecessor.

“Laguna Seca is a tough track with lots of elevation and fast corners,” explains team owner Teena Larsen. “And it is an amazing opportunity to race there as a driver. The drivers have to tick that track off their bucket list for sure. We’re disappointed the rain canceled our first race, but a podium sweep along with a fourth-place finish for the team was just the boost we needed heading into our next official points event.”

Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport will travel to Road America next weekend for the second round of the FR Americas and JSF4 2024 seasons and the first round of the F4 U.S. Championship in the newly developed JSF422 chassis. The weekend will begin on May 16th with a test day and conclude on May 19th after three races in each series.
