PLYMOUTH, Wis. (May 21, 2023) – Callum Hedge went two-for-two in Formula Regional Americas Championship Powered by Honda (FR Americas) competition at Road America on Sunday morning. The New Zealander once again led the field in his No. 17 Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3 from start to finish en route to his third-career win in just five FR Americas races.
The standing start was aborted after two cars were left stranded on the grid, leading the field to come down pit road and wait out the cleanup before returning to the track for a rolling start. Hedge got a clean jump, pulling away with a commanding lead and at the helm of a Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport train with teammates Ryan Shehan (No. 66 Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport Liger JS F3), Cooper Becklin (No. 19 Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3) and Bryson Morris (No. 39 Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport Ligier JS F3) just behind him. Morris was able to pull side-by-side with Becklin as they entered Turn 6, successfully completing the pass as they exited Turn 7. The two jockeyed the third position for the next two laps before Becklin took control of the third position for good when exiting Turn 1 just two laps later.
As they crossed the line, it was Hedge who led Shehan and Becklin to the finish line—making the Race 2 podium identical to the podium from Race 1.
“We had a couple issues at NOLA—I wasn’t quite driving the car as well as I could have been and we had a couple engine issues, but the Crosslink Kiwi guys fixed it right up,” Hedge said, reminiscing on his first FR Americas weekend at NOLA Motorsports Park in March. “But I’m getting the hang of the car now. I’m getting more comfortable in this very foreign country to me, and I’m really enjoying my time here. Big thanks to those who made this possible—Tony Quinn Foundation, Giltrap Group and Tasman Motorsports Group.”
