SCCA Pro Racing released a statement Monday afternoon that the sanctioning body is monitoring the coronavirus outbreak but expects no schedule disruptions to its F4 U.S. and F3 Americas season opener.
According to the statement from SCCA Pro Racing:
"SCCA leaders and officials are actively monitoring the situation regarding the COVID-19 virus, better known as the coronavirus. At this point in time, we do not foresee any disruptions to the SCCA Pro Racing F4 U.S. and F3 Americas Championship event schedule. We are actively monitoring and managing any risks associated with the spread of COVID-19.
"To ensure the well-being and health of the SCCA Membership at large, and to minimize the spread of any respiratory viruses including COVID-19, we support all members continuing to practice basic hygiene precautions as recommended by the CDC, such as frequent handwashing, use of hand sanitizer and covering coughs and sneezes appropriately. We also ask that Members use their best judgement when feeling ill and to refrain from participating in SCCA events when exhibiting any symptoms of illness."
The Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta season opener is scheduled for April 9-11.
